OMB 270L - 1972 Manta A 1900 SR Modified

Owner: Davy Fenton

I bought the car from a member in Cumbria in June 2000, along with a lot of spares.

Although registered in '73, the last owner had written to Opel's head office and received official conformation of its Sept '72 date of build.

This means free road tax!

The body is pretty good, it was undersealed from new, so the jacking points were pretty reasonable.

The bonnet had a few minor dents caused (I imagine) by screwdrivers absentmindedly left on batteries etc.

I bought a set of Recaros; covered them in matching leatherette, removed the side stripes (the original cars lines stand out now), lowered & uprated the suspension (thanks to Leda & Spax), fitted a Turbo airdam (R.M.J. mouldings) & removed the front over-riders on the front bumper, cleaning up the car's nose in the process.

N.B. Why did they change those delicate chrome overriders for the rubber ones? It does the car no favours.

The engine is a 1.6 instead of a 1.9 which I'm hoping to change soon for a 2.2 & 5 speed box to give it the performance it looks as though it can deliver.

6"x 13" ATS Alloys fitted with 205/60 tyres fit without mods to bodywork and look period.
